TRUE was proud to be part of a record-breaking Day of Caring with over 5,000 volunteers working on 365 different projects in a six-county area for a total of 80 nonprofit agencies.
For this year's Day of Caring project, TRUE employees ventured out to Camp Fire USA's Camp Tookaboochee, where we deconstructed an old fire pit and built a new one, complete with a brand new charcoal grill in front and fire pit in the back.
Other companies providing volunteers at Camp Tookaboochee included American Airlines, Dentsply Tulsa Dental, Ramsey Industries, and even a group of Tibetan Monks visiting the United States. All work performed at Day of Caring was in support of Camp Fire's current effort to transform the camp into a nature center. The camp is currently available for use by outside groups on a fee basis, and Camp Fire hopes to be able to open the site to limited public use sometime next year.
We hope Camp Fire USA troops and visitors will benefit from these efforts for years to come, while experiencing nature at this wonderful day camp area.
